Just recently I spoke at a church in central Texas sharing about Cities of Refuge and some of the miraculous things God has done along the way. Afterwards a very young girl with long brown hair approached me. She appeared to be about 10 years old and was visibly nervous. With her eyes firmly fixed on the church carpet, she said, "May I ask you a question?"
"Sure," I replied as I bent down towards her with a smile.
"I had a dream that my guinea pig died and then two days later she died. Is that OK?"
A smile crossed my face as I realized the Lord had been speaking to this child.
"Of course that's OK. God spoke to many people throughout the Bible in dreams."
She looked up at me and smiled. Relief swept across her face.
"This is a sweet gift from the Lord," I said. "Ask Him to give you more dreams and He will.
One of the greatest joys I have as I share in churches and other places is to discover those whom God has already been speaking to through dreams and visions. They most often ask to speak with me privately as the crowds thin out. Once in a safe place, they will quietly share some of their encounters with a supernatural God. It is my great privelege to listen to their stories for so many times they have been discouraged or hurt along the way by mentors... by those in authority in whom they have placed their trust. Because of this, they have become fearful in sharing the stories of their encounters. My father was this way.
I grew up in a home where our father would be given dreams and visions from the Lord quite often. I thought this was normal and happened to everyone. But as a teenager I had a supernatural encounter with God... an open vision... and shared my experience with my father. He encouraged me, but warned me not to share this with others for fear they might think you were crazy or out of your mind. However, I didn't heed his advice. By the grace of God, I was never fearful of sharing my supernatural God stories. I actually receive great joy from the Lord in sharing my experiences with God and allowing people to see a bigger God than the One they may now know. God is BIG!!! And if you can imagine it or think it, He's bigger than that.
May the Lord increase in us.
"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. " Ephesians 3:20-21
